{VeganMoFo} Restaurant Review: 'Snice

I have a bit of a confession to make: I'm kind of addicted to 'Snice.  And.  I.  Don't.  Care.

Even though NYC is full of great vegan options, I generally fall back on the same few places, mostly due to proximity (in this case) or to sheer picky-ness (my trademark).

Now, I'm not gonna sit here and claim that 'Snice is the be-all-end-all of vegan cuisine.  It's not.  But it is reliably good, and it's one of those places that you can take just about anyone - even non-vegans (le sigh!) - for a satisfying, relaxing meal.

Bonus: they even have vegan desserts.

At 'Snice, I tend to order one of two things - either the curried cauliflower wrap, or the quinoa salad.  However, when I'm feeling really dangerous, I'll order the wrap AND a small quinoa salad.

I know, impressive.

On the other hand, my usual dinning companion (CH) typically orders something different every time, which is quite lucky for you, dear reader, since it helps add to my foodporn collection.

Pictured below (clock-wise from top right) are: the Philly-Style Seitan Sandwich with vegan cheese, peppers, and onions; a bowl of potato soup (perfect when the weather gets cold); the Triple-Decker Tofu Club; the Thai Salad with edamame, roasted peanuts, and ginger carrot dressing (it's so-so); and, of course, the famed Curried Cauliflower Wrap with chickpeas, brown rice, and mango chutney.

It should be noted that besides serving soup, salads, and sandwiches, 'Snice also offers a few breakfast items (none of which I've tried yet).  They also have coffee, but unless I'm really in a pinch, I prefer to grab a cup at Konditori or Cafe Grumpy.

For your reference, 'Snice has three locations in NYC:
Now, here's one more shot to wet your whilstle: CH's favorite, the Tempeh Reuben with sauerkraut, vegan thousand island dressing, and Daiya cheese.

  2. Oh my god, if I lived in NYC I'd be addicted to s'Nice too. I stayed around the corner from one of their locations when I was in NYC in '09 and went there almost every day! I particularly loved the pot pie wrap, bagels with tofu cream cheese, their muffins, and the pesto panini.
