VeganMoFo: Sweet, Sweet Sunday - PopBar

Psst...

Hey you!

Yes, you

The one sitting there smugly, rolling your eyes, acting like you've already heard about every, single, damn, delicious, vegan treat out there.

You know - the gluten-free cupcakes, coconut ice creams, raw oatmeal cookie sandwiches, vegan pies, strawberry soy milkshakes, blah, blah, blah...

Yea, yea, you've heard it all before.

But guess what?  There's one more, very important, very delicious vegan dessert that you're probably leaving off your list: PopBar.*

PopBars come from a fantastic dessert shop - uh, I mean "bar" - that exists in NYC. It's one of those places that I've sullenly walked by a zillion times, peering in through the window, muttering about how unfair it is that vegans can't partake in anything cool.

Luckily, all of that unfounded moping finally brought me in to PopBar one day, simply to confirm my non-vegan suspicions.

Thus, imagine my delight upon discovering that PopBar did not, in fact, want to crush my tiny vegan heart. Not only do they serve "handcrafted gelato on a stick," (vegan = notsomuch) but they also serve 100% fruit-based sorbetto on a stick (thankyouverymuch).

The thing that makes PopBar so awesome is that after you select your pop flavor (blood orange, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, mandarin orange, peach, strawberry, or orange), your bar gets dipped in chocolate and as many toppings (almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios, shredded coconut, granola, or coffee grains) as you desire.

Plus, vegans don't get screwed out of the fun, because PopBar offers a verified-vegan, dark chocolate dip!

Now that's what I'm talking about, people.

CH's Creation: Pineapple w/ Dark Chocolate & Coconut;
JD's Creation: Strawberry w/ Dark Chocolate & Pistachios
*If you don't live in NYC, I won't hold your lack of PopBar knowledge against you. Otherwise, stop acting like Lula's (*drool*) is the only game in town, and get thee to PopBar ASAP!
